Kombucha for a Glowing Complexion
So here’s something interesting, did you know that not only is kombucha a healthy beverage but it can also be used topically.
Not something mainstream (yet!), but this amazing brew can be used as a facial cleanser, toner and even a tonic for your hair! The low pH levels of Kombucha makes it a natural astringent, and using this as a cleanser or toner is like using a mild and inexpensive face peel: it exfoliates and remove dead skin cells, leaving your skin softer.
We’ve personally tried making some kombucha toner and if you’re already used to using a mild all-natural toner (like apple cider vinegar), then this works like a charm.
Not only are you using a skincare that has zero chemicals and consist of something 100% natural, a homemade kombucha toner boosts the following benefits:
Balancing your skin - especially if you suffer from dry, oily/ acne prone skin
Helping with skin issues such as psoriasis and eczema
Protecting against free radicals and toxins
Preventing signs of aging
Making your skin soft and supple!
For those who are keen to try, here’s a simple recipe to make your own Kombucha Facial Toner:
2 oz Kombucha Vinegar (KV)
2-4 drops essential oils
Combine the ingredients and store in a dark glass jar. Apply as you would a regular toner with a cotton ball.
Store in a cool, dark location or even in the fridge.
Make small batches to try and always remember that when we’re switching to using a product with less stuff (ingredients, chemicals or synthetic stuff), there is always a grace period when your body (and skin) adapts.
So be patient but always be vigilant and listen to your body as everyone is unique and different!
